By now we really shouldn’t have to offer any more reasons why voting for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris is an imperative, but just because we shouldn’t have to doesn’t mean we can afford not to. Because some folk require a frightening amount of evidence before seeing the light.
This might help:
From Newsweek:
Donald Trump's mention of the "beautiful" Battle of Gettysburg during a campaign rally in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, got the former president some attention on social media, with users wondering what his rambling "rant" was about.
"Gettysburg, what an unbelievable battle that was," Trump said while addressing the crowd in the town and wearing a Make America Great Again hat. "It was so much, and so interesting, and so vicious and horrible, and so beautiful in so many different ways—it represented such a big portion of the success of this country," he continued.
"Gettysburg, wow—I go to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to look and to watch," he said. "And the statement of Robert E. Lee, who's no longer in favor—did you ever notice it? He's no longer in favor. 'Never fight uphill, me boys, never fight uphill.' They were fighting uphill, he said, 'Wow, that was a big mistake,' he lost his big general. 'Never fight uphill, me boys,' but it was too late," Trump added.
One might think WTF? And one might be right.
So this particular nonsensical rant uttered by the former President occurred about a week ago. But he’s muttering nonsensically all the time now. More on that later. Or maybe not, because how much do we really need to discuss the incoherent ramblings of Trump?
Anyway, two days after this latest incoherent rambling, Trump had to appear in court on Monday where he will be appearing close to every day as a defendant for the next few months watching his lawyers try to defend him in what most media outlets are referring to as a “hush money trial” but which is actually a campaign interference trial. Because paying hush money isn’t necessarily illegal, but paying hush money to interfere with the outcome of a presidential campaign damned sure is.
On that Day One of the trial, El Dictatore Wanna Bay fell asleep in the courtroom. Perhaps because he was plum tuckered out from that blazing speech he delivered on Saturday. It must be exhausting to stumble and fumble so ignorantly without pause in front of an audience who thought they had come to see The Great and Powerful Trump, only to instead be forced to witness the shriveled and impotent “wizard” wandering around aimlessly behind the curtain.
Or maybe, being an old guy, the strain of being in said courtroom was just too much of a strain. But then, how to explain the virtual international diplomacy gymnastics and acrobatics being performed on the global stage by that other old guy (Biden) at the same time? Because isn’t Biden the older one of the two?
So while one is drooling in his oatmeal, passing time until he can deliver his next incoherent word salad, the other is busy negotiating with world powers and preventing Iranian bombs from landing in Israel and killing hundreds if not thousands.
Look, you don’t have to like how Biden is handling the crisis in Gaza - I definitely struggle considerably with his unwillingness to come down much harder and shut off the weapons faucet - but you can’t say the man isn’t actively engaged in one of the most fraught foreign policy crises of our generation or that he isn’t aware of his surroundings - or the stakes.
But if you still think the babbling drooler isn’t that much of a threat, stay tuned. Because there are just so many more examples to choose from. When it comes to insanity and depravity, Trump is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
