Keith and I first started our “We Are Speaking” Substack in February of 2022. The publication has been through a few iterations since then, but a few months ago, we settled with the format we have now:
“Today In Black History” where every weekday morning, we highlight a person or an event in Black History and list the important Black history facts for the day.
“The Choice” is a twice-a-week op-ed about a current and relevant issue, particularly how the issue affects Black America.
“Keith’s Sci-Fi Musings” is a weekly sci-fi/fantasy short story, usually with a Detroit focus.
People must like the latest format because, in the last few months, we’ve added HUNDREDS of new subscribers! We now have over 600 total subscribers!
Our readers are in 43 states and 32 countries!
As a subscriber, you can choose from a few levels:
Free: all posts are free for three days after publication, after which they are locked behind a paywall. No archive access, chats, or DMs, but we appreciate you for being part of our community!
Monthly/Yearly Paid: For just $5/month or $50/year, you will receive all of the benefits awarded to paid subscribers, including full access to the archive of posts, even after the three free days, the ability to DM us and join in the Chat, and the ability to comment on posts.
Founders/Premier Paid: For a special supporting cost of $250/year, you will have all of the benefits afforded to paid subscribers, PLUS a signed copy of one of our books!
All paid subscriber payments will auto-renew unless you cancel them.
So, what’s next?
Our next B.A.G.s (Big Audacious Goals) are to add a minimum of 150 new subscribers every month through the rest of 2024 and raise our paid subscriber % from 6.3% to 10%.
