It is 3:00 am on Wednesday.
I haven’t been able to sleep.
In 2016, we knew the results by about 11 pm, and I was so distraught I couldn’t work for three days.
I actually wrote the draft of my Wednesday “Today In Black History” post on Tuesday; I just had to finish it and publish it.
But right now, I can’t.
In 2016, we nominated the most qualified woman for the Democratic Party, we won the popular vote, but we lost the Electoral College.
We said, “How could this happen?”
In 2024, we nominated the most qualified woman for the Democratic Party, and we lost the Electoral College and the popular vote for the first time since 2004.
Again, we’re saying: “How could this happen?”
But this time, it’s worse, much worse.
It will be worse for America, for our allies, and for the world.
So, Keith and I will both be stepping back from W.A.S. for a few days.
We just can’t.

I’m with you in heart. This has been a no good, terrible, not-much-sleeping night of
Sad, Mad, Disbelief. . and heart brokenness. My prayers are not working as my mind keeps overworking all the horrors promised by Project 25, not to speak of the Musk immersion at the end.
