People knew Trump was a racist way before he went into politics. His father was a member of the KKK, and in the 1970s, they both refused to rent their properties to Black people.
In the 1980s, Trump bought full-page ads calling for the execution of the “Central Park Five,” brown and Black men who were wrongly accused of raping a white woman.
During Covid, Trump called the disease the “Chinese Flu” and blamed Asian Americans, leading to attacks on, and even the deaths of many of them.
Trump’s attacks on immigrants, documented or not, and his calls for mass deportations are because most recent immigrants are brown and Black people, not white European, like his own mother, who was an immigrant from Scotland.
That is also the reason Trump is trying to end birthright citizenship, which is guaranteed in the 14th Amendment because most children born to immigrants are non-white. He and many white Americans are terrified of becoming the minority race in this country.
Now, Trump and many in his administration are falsely using “DEI” to justify erasing any celebration or even mention of women, the disabled, Black people, and other people of color.
DEI doesn’t just assist Black people but all people, including women, non-white people, veterans, and the disabled.
But Trump and Company are using DEI as an excuse to completely denigrate and eliminate the monthly celebrations of different American cultures and to force public schools and universities to terminate lessons and curricula that teach anything that is not promoting white, straight, Christian males.
All of the schools operated by the Department of Defense have been ordered to stop teaching Black and women’s history, take down their posters of Martin Luther King and Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and told to remove from their libraries any books by non-white authors or those that discuss disabilities, racism, or non-white history.
The current press secretary even stated that schools should “only” teach reading, writing, and math. No science, no history, no social studies, no music or art, and certainly no critical thinking.
Many special programs for students funded by the grants Trump has targeted have been canceled, including STEM and art projects. A 6th-grade drama club at a DoD school had to cancel its Black History program, where the students would sing and perform Motown songs.
Trump says he’s going to force all public schools to abolish the teaching of anything that is not his version of white-only American history, close down all cultural clubs, and end any activities that may be race or gender-based.
Republicans nationwide are applying Trump’s racist policies to programs and people in their jurisdictions, canceling and eliminating as many of the Biden administration’s programs and policies as possible.
Our CHOICE is to work to keep the centuries-long diversity of this country and the government programs that actually help people active and operational.
