According to a standard dictionary definition, an "oath" is a solemn promise, often invoking a divine witness, regarding one's future action or behavior. It can also refer to a formal declaration or promise to fulfill a pledge, typically made under legal or moral obligation. In the context of the "Presidential Oath of Office," it is the official promise taken by the President of the United States, committing to execute the duties of the office faithfully.
As we all know, Donald Trump repeatedly violated his presidential oath during his first term and will continue to do so during his second term, starting when he outright lies as he takes the oath for his second term.
The Presidential Oath of Office is a solemn pledge made by the President of the United States, committing to execute the office and protect the Constitution faithfully. The oath is enshrined in Article II, Section 1, Clause 8 of the U.S. Constitution. It has been a fundamental part of every presidential inauguration since George Washington first took it on April 30, 1789.
The wording has remained consistent: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
The inauguration ceremony has evolved into a significant public event, symbolizing the peaceful transfer of power and the continuity of American democracy. The oath is supposed to represent a moment of national unity and reaffirm the constitutional principles guiding the presidency.
Trump will not faithfully execute the Office of the President of the United States. First of all, he has no idea how to govern and has no intention to learn. This time, he ran for president only to stay out of jail, and it worked. He has no respect for the office, as usual he thinks it’s all about him.
Trump will definitely not preserve, protect, or defend the Constitution; as a matter of fact, he continuously attempts to go against the Constitution or ignore the parts he doesn’t like. He wants to just “executive order” everything he wants to do.
Next week, we will be moving from a president who grew up in a working-class family and has looked out for the middle class during his presidency to one who only wants millionaires and billionaires to be in charge of the departments and agencies of our government.
On Thursday, Trump’s choice for Attorney General wouldn’t say that Trump lost the 2020 election and said that she’ll “look at” birthright citizenship as guaranteed by the 14th Amendment. It would take another Constitutional Amendment to eliminate birthright citizenship, and the Trump people don’t like it because these days, it applies primarily to brown people born here from immigrants, documented or not.
Also on Thursday, Trump’s pick for the Treasury, a multi-millionaire, said he doesn’t think there should be a higher federal minimum wage; the current $7.25 an hour, which has been in effect since 2009, is just fine with him.
Starting with the oath, Trump is going to try to undo just about every accomplishment of President Biden, to destroy as much of our government as he can to become a permanent president and have all of our government be loyal to him and do only what he wants, not what is good for the country or We, the People.
We, the People, must resist and remember that the president and the government work for us, not the other way around. That will be our task every single day for the next four years.
During his final meeting with the military, Joe said to them, “Remember your oath.”

The Presidential Oath of Office:
"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
The phrase "to the best of my ability" might as well have been written specifically for Trump—a man whose staggering incompetence renders the very concept of "ability" meaningless. For someone so catastrophically unfit, it’s not a solemn vow but a perverse loophole—a mockery of leadership and a cruel joke inflicted on a nation that once revered the presidency. 🇺🇸💔
