In 1978, music producer Kenny Gamble started the Black Music Association and founded Black Music Month. On June 7, 1979, President Jimmy Carter held the first-ever Black Music Month celebration and began the annual celebration of African-American Music Appreciation Month.

On May 31, 2022, President Joe Biden declared June 2022 as “Black Music Appreciation Month.”

In this 30-minute episode, Keith and Pam discuss the history of Black Music as a cultural foundation of music in America since the 19th century.
