For the 2022 midterms, since they have no real policy proposals, the GOP will be running on “everything wrong with Biden” and “woke is bad.”
That includes inflation, gas prices (which decreased about 30¢/gallon in the last few weeks), eliminating abortion access completely, CRT (which is not a thing except in law schools), caravans of immigrants crossing the southern border (again), “election integrity” (which means voter suppression), elimination of Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid, taxing low-income people, and most of all, installing a permanent minority authoritarian ruling class.
Inflation and high gas prices, while painful for all of us, are temporary.
If the Republicans regain control of the government, not only will all of our hard-won rights be gone, but we will no longer have a functioning democracy.
This is not hyperbole.
Joe Biden and the Democrats are not perfect, but they are on the right side of history.
For the most part, the Democrats believe in diversity, including diversity of thoughts. Democrats range from far left to at least center-right.
Republicans, on the other hand, demand total and complete fealty to their concept of what an American should be and what America should be as a country.
Especially since Trump, but actually, before Trump, the Republican Party has turned into an authoritarian, racist, misogynist, repressive, and anti-democratic organization.
Republicans will turn on any in their party who will not toe the party line, especially as concerns Trump. Liz Cheney (R-WY) is about as conservative as one can be. She is the daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney. She even voted with Trump the majority of the time.
But when she voted to impeach Trump, and then became the co-chair of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the Capitol, she was immediately stripped of her leadership role in the Republican Party and may even lose her congressional seat.
As Democrats, we cannot afford to lose this fight.
Unfortunately, Democrats often fight among themselves and do not always support their own.
Many are blaming President Biden for gas prices, for inflation, for the Roe v Wade decision, and so on.
Democrats are being gaslit into bringing down Biden’s poll numbers and believing that the country is going in the wrong direction while we supposedly control all three branches of the government.
On Friday, July 8, 2022, Biden issued an executive order protecting a woman’s right to choose, protecting reproductive health in general, and especially privacy rights related to health decisions.
This article from CNN.com has a good summary of the E.O.
Meanwhile, far-left progressives are saying the response was weak and not enough.
On the same day, the monthly jobs report was released, and once again, the 372,000 jobs added exceeded expectations and tamped down worries about inflation.
CNN.com published an easy-to-understand article about the July jobs report.
Last June, I published an article about why I believe it is the wrong approach to work against the Democrats when the Democratic Party is literally all that is standing between saving our democracy and falling into permanent minority rule.
We must vote for Democratic candidates in the Midterms like our lives depend on it, because they do. If we give Biden the Congress he needs by keeping and expanding our majorities in both Houses, then he can really get things done.
It is up to US.
That is not hyperbole.

This is the most important issue that democrats must stress over and over. The pain at the pump etc will only get worse under authoritarian control. Thank you for your continued well thought out observations.
