Yes, I can work all day without my MacBook Pro!
Back in the old days, Pre-COVID, I loved to go out to coffee shops, restaurants, by the riverfront, and other similar places just to work in a different environment. Rather than carrying my 15-inch MacBook Pro with me, I could work with just one or both of my iPads and my iPhone.
When indoor dining was closed due to the pandemic, I was pretty much confined to my home office. (My beautiful coworking space all but closed down, too.)
Although I am a natural introvert, by now I am getting tired of being in the house all the time. Here in Michigan, many dining outlets have installed heat lamps and tents so that patrons could again come and sit and eat and drink coffee while also social-distancing.
So now, even though it is January in Michigan, I am again enjoying getting out and about and working away from the office and without my MacBook Pro. I really enjoy getting on my bike and riding to the nearby places I frequent.
Disclaimer: I am a total Apple Fangirl. I have two Macs, two iPads, and always the latest iPhone. When I write about apps or systems, I am writing from that worldview. Some of the apps I discuss MAY work on Windows and Android, but I cannot speak to that. I only deal with the Mac OS, iOS, and Apple computers and devices.
I also used to keep one or more large notebooks with me, but I no longer do that, either. I have gone almost completely paperless. How?
Itâs All About the Apps
When I choose apps for personal or business use, I choose ones that will work and sync in real-time to my MacBook Pro and all of my iDevices. I also make sure that most of my apps also integrate with my Google Calendar (yes, this Apple Fan Girl also uses a lot of Google-specific products and services).
When I open my Google Calendar any time and from any device, I can immediately see what I have planned to do on that day. My husbandâs event calendar is on my Google Calendar, and mine is on his Google calendar, which makes it very easy to know what the other is doing at any time during the day or week.
Because my project manager app, Trello, is integrated into my Google Calendar, I know what projects Iâll be working on for that day.

Both my iPhone and one of my iPads (with cellular service functionality) fit in my not-too-big purse/tote, so when Iâm out and about I can get something done whenever and wherever I am, even in waiting rooms, etc.
Even though I have the largest size iPhone, it is a little harder to work on projects with only my phone, but itâs possible. I can even work on my writing projects in Ulysses, my writing app of choice, by dictating my words into my iPhone, and then continuing the writing and/or editing when Iâm back working with my iPad(s) or MacBook Pro attached to my 27-inch monitor.
Itâs all about productivity and efficiency. As much as I enjoyed using my analog-based journals, notebooks, and planners, going almost totally digital has been a positive change for me personally and professionally.
I can access everything, any time and anywhere. Everything is synced through iCloud and Dropbox, and additionally, everything is backed up to my 2TB external hard drive Time Capsule attached to my MacBook Pro.
