I have been a solopreneur since 2008, and I have been on Medium since 2018. During all of those years, I have implemented many changes.
I started with one business in 2008, and by 2017, I grew professionally, adding two more businesses and a podcast, and writing a book.
What I enjoy most about being self-employed is that I can set my own schedule, choose my own clients, work from anywhere at any time, and build my businesses as I see fit.
In September 2020, after 12 years, I retired. I closed all of my businesses, ended the podcast, and finally finished some knitting projects. But “being retired” didn’t last long.
By December 2020, people were asking me to work with them again, and I did start working with three people. Just three. Then in February 2021, my husband decided that we should do a podcast together. People were also still asking me to share my expertise with them and I already had outlines of courses completed. By March 2021, it was obvious that I wasn’t finished with working and in partnership with my husband, I started a new company that incorporated parts of my previous companies and showcased the skills, expertise, and experience of both of us.

Since we got married in 1998, we were a team. Our surname is Owens. The Area Code for Detroit, where we live, is 313. We are both creative professionals who wanted to build a community of other creative and solo professionals. Meanwhile, I started writing for Medium, again starting with one publication and eventually growing to three separate publications. When I kept a set publishing schedule (not only keeping to that schedule), I published stories on Medium about 3X/week.
After we started TO33 GCC and remembering that at least I should be semi-retired and not work SO hard, I decided to merge my three Medium publications into one, the publication you are visiting right now.
I am also an official LinkedIn Creator and I am working on writing and publishing three major books by April 2022.

Because I write for at least three different audiences and write books, I had to make a definite writing schedule that I could stick with.
So my new publishing schedule on Medium will be 2X/week on Wednesdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, the stories will feature topics about American History and Government (with a little politics added for good measure). On Fridays, the topics will include ideas and issues targeted to creative and solo professionals and very small business owners.
