This is our monthly post about the growth of our “We Are Speaking (W.A.S)” publication.
March 2023 marks our 13th month of publication, and we are very proud of how we’ve expanded in this time.
The Numbers
However, we’d really like to grow more and grow faster, for free and paid subscribers!
As you can see from this screenshot of our stats, we have experienced upward growth since our beginning, but we’d really like to see more growth!

I was an English major, not a math major (LOL), but I can crunch THESE numbers:
If just 1/2 of our current subscribers encouraged FIVE of their friends, colleagues, and family members to subscribe, we would have 385 subscribers this month!
If just 20% of those 385 subscribers became paid subscribers at $ 5/month or $50/year, we would have 107 paid subscribers this month!
If we did the above two things every month, we’d be in the top tier of Substack publications by the end of 2023! Wouldn’t that be fantastic?

Exciting March and April Changes and Additions
Starting March 6, 2023, we will be adjusting our publishing schedule and the features and articles available for paid subscribers only.
Since we started with Substack in February 2022, there have been continuous upgrades and additional features benefitting writers and readers.
I have been studying what other successful Substack writers are doing to grow their publications and bring more value to their readers and subscribers. Some publications charge $10/month or more, yet only publish 1-3 articles per week.
We will be publishing 5 articles and 2 podcast episodes a week; downsizing from 7 articles. Our paid subscriber rate will remain at the very low $5/month or $50/year.
Every TWO weeks we will publish paid articles on either Tuesdays and Thursdays only or Wednesdays and Fridays only.
The Monday OpEd, Wednesday podcast, and Saturday podcast will always be free.
Starting in April 2023, we will be adding a special feature for paid subscribers: each week we will publish a draft chapter of one of our upcoming books for review and comments as we complete the final draft of the book. Annual and Premium paid subscribers will receive a free copy of the finished books.
Also in April, we will be adding a monthly Zoom “AUA” (Ask Us Anything) where our paid subscribers can submit questions for us to answer and also speak with us in real time as we answer those questions. The Zoom recording will also be sent to paid subscribers.
