Issue #498 The Choice February 12, 2024
Last week, the Trump-aligned Special Counsel Robert Hur, who was appointed by AG Merrick Garland to investigate the holding of classified documents, added his personal non-medical opinion to his report.
Most of the report exonerated President Biden and actually implicated Donald Trump for how he handled the classified documents he stole and refused to return. Hur actually sort of praised Biden for how he handled the situation. However…
Within his report which included more than 300 pages, Hur decided to insert a political hit job by saying that President Biden was a “well-meaning elderly gentleman” with memory issues. Hur never mentioned that the two-day five-hour-long interview session began the day after the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel and that maybe Joe had a lot on his mind since he sat for the interview in between calls to several world leaders.
Hur specifically mentioned that President Biden “couldn’t remember” the year his beloved son Beau died as well as other events from many years ago. Later, President Biden said that when that question was asked, he was livid. He said he thought to himself, “How dare he ask me about Beau! What does that have to do with the issue at hand?”
After the report was released to the public, which actually wasn’t even necessary, of course, the Republicans jumped onto the “memory issues” that President Biden supposedly has, ironically conveniently forgetting to mention the many cases of misstatements and outright lies of Donald Trump. That is to be expected.
But what is more disconcerting are the responses of most of the MSM (mainstream media) and many Democrats. They are gnashing their teeth and rending their garments, echoing the “Joe’s too old” garbage and even thinking about replacing him for the 2024 election.
A few of the top people for the Biden-Harris campaign went on all of the Sunday shows to try to mitigate the damage, but it wasn’t enough.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?
Robert Hur is not a medical professional and has no authority to make any kind of diagnosis about anything or anyone. Why are people, especially Democrats, acting like his opinion means anything? Papers like the New York Times and the Washington Post are giving more space to talking about Biden's age and gaffes than they are to Trump saying he would abandon our NATO allies and ignore NATO's Article 5 which states that an attack on one NATO country is an attack on all. Trump also said that he didn’t care if Putin took over Ukraine and more of the Baltic states, including Poland.
Why isn’t THAT the top news story?
Democrats! Get it together! Stop focusing on things that shouldn’t count and start focusing on what will help to get Biden and Harris re-elected.
Joe Biden has been suffering from his stuttering affliction almost all of his life. He’s known for his gaffes. Yes, he’s 81 years old, but President Carter was active well into his 90s. But when Joe tripped over a wire on a platform or fell off his bike when his shoe clip got stuck, he got right back up and kept on going.
With age comes wisdom and experience.
Let’s talk about what Joe has already done and will continue to do for all Americans.
